Need a relaxed weekend spot? Try one of these 3 nearby vineyards
With winter just really starting for our southern state, it’s a great chance to get out and experience something different that will warm your soul. Date night? Retreat with the girlfriends? Just need to relax? Head to a vineyard. Here are three of my favorite local options:
Up first is a personal favorite of mine: Dennis Vineyards, located in Albemarle, N.C., is just 30 to 45 minutes outside of Charlotte. Try a glass of their delicious spiced wintry wines— or, if you happen upon a warmer day, grab a sweet muscadine wine slushy—and sit outside on the patio that overlooks rolling hills and their sparkling pond. It’s the ideal spot for you and your friends to unwind and imbibe.
If it’s a cooler day, they have made a nice spot inside with games to play that are perfect for sitting and sipping and full of small-town charm. And every so often, there’s a painting party, so be on the lookout or call ahead.
For those looking for a family friendly option, Dennis Vineyards also offers non-alcoholic grape slushies and treats for the under-21 crowd.
Located in Troutman, N.C., about 45 minutes from Uptown, Daveste Vineyards stole my heart the moment I visited. This vineyard offers an elegant aesthetic, and features a relaxing waterfall. On a chilly day, stay indoors in the heated area, with seating overlooking the natural beauty.
On a warmer day, grab a rocking chair on the porch or find a spot near the waterfall and with relax with a glass of wine and a picnic basket full of whatever treats you fancy bringing along. If you prefer to wander, the property also features tons of open land and paths. This option is the perfect getaway to disconnect, imbibe and relax.
