Today’s headlines: Charlotte breweries place at Great American Beer Festival
We love our Charlotte beer and we love when it gets recognized nationally.
Over the weekend, two Charlotte breweries won medals at the Great American Beer Festival, which names gold, silver and bronze winners for a wide variety of beer styles.
Triple C Brewing’s 3C India Pale Ale won bronze in the American-Style Strong Pale Ale category.

DAVID HOWARD LIKES …: If you haven’t heard, the Democratic mayoral primary runoff is next Tuesday (early voting already started) and it comes down to incumbent Dan Clodfelter and Jennifer Roberts. And David Howard, who finished a close third in the first primary, is endorsing the second-place finisher Clodfelter.
The endorsement comes as a bit of a surprise. Howard was critical of Clodfelter for deciding to run for mayor after telling Howard he would not. But Howard “interviewed” both candidates last week and he thought Clodfelter offered thoughts with more precision and depth.
Want to hear more from the candidates? Come out to the debate Wednesday morning at McGlohan Theater. It’ll happen during a live taping of WFAE’s Charlotte Talks, and it’s free. Register here.
GET UP, KIDDO: The Carolina Panthers moved to 3-0 with a home 27-22 win over the New Orleans Saints Sunday, thanks in large part to a impressive performance by Cam Newton. But apparently the quarterback had one thing going against him — he’s not old enough. Cam said after the game that the ref told him he wasn’t old enough to get a late-hit call in the fourth quarter. Read his full quotes here.
