Eat your whole Thanksgiving dinner in one sushi roll at The Cowfish
Ah, sushi and burgers, the traditional autumnal fare of our forefathers.
No? So you’re saying that The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar wasn’t on the top of your list for fall bites and drinks? Maybe it’s time to rethink that.
First, consider the cocktails. Specifically, the YAMhattan, a playful fall take on the classic Manhattan cocktail featuring Old Forester 86, cardamom honey, sweet vermouth, sweet potato simple syrup and Angostura bitters. The potent drink is served chilled in a martini glass and topped with a sweet potato chip and brûléed marshmallow.
OK, the drink is an easy sell (you read the part about brûléed marshmallow right?). But you may be a little more apprehensive about the Cowfish’s new Thanksgiving sushi roll.
The Gobble-Gobble-ooshi roll features roasted turkey and fried green beans wrapped in soy paper and sweet potato strings. It’s then flash fried and topped with cranberry sauce and fried green beans — and served over gravy.
Admittedly, it sounds weird. But you’re going to want to try this because it’s actually — and totally inexplicably — very good.
“We tried for three years to create Thanksgiving roll and could never quite get it,” said Cowfish General Manger Chris DeCamp. “Now we’ve got it though. Everyone loves this roll.”
So much that after only having it on the menu for a few weeks last year, Cowfish opted to add it to the menu earlier in the season this year.
The Cowfish donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the $16 roll to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. And don’t wait too long to try it. Appropriately, this roll is only offered through Thanksgiving.
