Brixx closes uptown pizza location as it actively seeks another
After 20 years at 225 E. 6th Street, Brixx Wood Fired Pizza closed Sunday night with an announcement it is not planning to renew its lease near 7th Street Market.
Uptown pizza fans, all is not lost. “We are actively seeking a new Uptown home to continue serving the professionals, travelers, families, Charlotte sports fans and all of our own fiercely local, fun fans who spend time in Center City,” read a statement on the restaurant’s front door.
All team members are being relocated to one of the other Charlotte-area Brixx spots.
The restaurant on 6th Street was approximately 5,000 square feet, and Brixx is now looking for a space in the 3,000-3,500 square foot range. “We hope to find something a little smaller to better align with our mission to craft connections with our guests and allow our guests to better enjoy each other’s company,” Brixx’s Jenna Wise told CharlotteFive. “We’ve been in Charlotte for nearly 22 years (20 on 6th St.), so it’s important to us that we find a great fit.”
The first Brixx Wood Fired Pizza opened in 1998 in Dilworth, and the uptown spot was the company’s second. Brixx now has almost 30 locations across the Southeast. In the Charlotte area, the restaurant has locations in Dilworth, Foxcroft, Blakeney, Birkdale and Kingsley in Fort Mill.
Menu items include Hawaiian Pizza, Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza and even a S’mores Dessert Pizza.
