Bruce Moffett teaching us how to cook is Charlotte’s coronavirus silver lining
There’s a Dennis The Menace cartoon that’s been making the rounds lately. “Can’t we go to a restaurant? I’m sick of eating groceries!” states a defiant Dennis, sitting at the kitchen table with arms crossed.
Yeah.
If you, too, can relate, know there are option. There’s takeout and delivery of course — and our handy list is updated daily.
But there’s also another option: You could learn to cook like a Charlotte chef — or at least give it your best effort and wind up with a funny Pinterest fail if it doesn’t work. #NailedIt
One of Charlotte’s favorites, Bruce Moffett, has stepped in to graciously offer help to us kitchen amateurs, too. The award-winning chef and owner of Barrington’s, Good Food on Montford, NC Red and Stagioni is hosting a Virtual Cooking School.
The Facebook live virtual cooking demo for at-home chefs will be held at 4 p.m. on May 4. He’ll be teaching the two recipes from his cookbook, Bruce Moffett Cooks. You’ll be making Garganelli with Italian Sausage and Sweet Corn Soup with Poached Lobster. After the demo, Moffett will hold an interactive question-and-answer period with those watching from home.
The class will be live streamed on Facebook via Facebook.com/G3mktg. Moffett has partnered Procter & Gamble and Harris Teeter for the experience, and the team will be donating to gift cards to Charlotte’s frontline workers.
Once you master Moffett’s recipes, you can make Kindred’s Milk Bread, Dilworth Tasting Room’s Adobo pork shoulder, Greg Collier’s Grilled Asparagus (‘Gus) with strawberries or DoubleTree’s warm chocolate cookies.
No more bored Dennis at the dinner table after all that.
