Popbar fans, you’ll soon be able to enjoy the frozen treats at Camp North End. Popbar will make its new home at The Bunkhouse in the Mount district, ATCO Properties & Management told CharlotteFive on Wednesday evening.

Clarence and Kia Lyons, who also own Popbar’s NoDa location, are targeting a mid-to-late June opening.

“We are so excited to be bringing this delicious frozen treat concept to Camp North End,” Kia Lyons said in a statement.

“The uniqueness of the property and its commitment to the Charlotte community aligns perfectly with our values of quality, service and authenticity. We are so thrilled to be joining the exciting retail lineup at the site and look forward to opening our shop in time for the summer season.”

Popbar marks Camp North End’s 11th food and beverage tenant.

ATCO also recently signed retail leases with specialty cocktail company Black Moth Bars, which will serve customers from an Airstream trailer, and La Caseta, a new food stall concept from Raydal Hospitality.

Outdoor walk-up window

Popbar Camp North End will serve customers through a walk-up window, which will allow visitors ample room to maintain social distancing during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The nearby seating arrangements have been reduced and spaced in accordance with North Carolina’s phased stay-at-home re-opening requirements. And if you’re elsewhere at Camp North End and craving a refreshing treat, don’t fret — Popbar will also have a cart on wheels that will move throughout the site.

Expect all of your Popbar favorites, like handcrafted gelato, sorbet and frozen yogurt on a stick. The menu will include 13 of the most popular pre-dipped and topped pops, frozen lemonade — and a few items exclusive to the Camp North End location.

This Popbar location is also planning to partner with local nonprofits in the community. A portion of the sales from the cart will be given to each nonprofit that hosts an activation.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Popbar to our growing Camp North End family of businesses committed to quality and customer experience,” said Tommy Mann, development director at Camp North End. “This shop is another great example of how Camp North End’s ample outdoor space strategically supports open-air dining and walk-up ordering, which is critical to the successful return of small businesses after COVID-19.”
