The Fort Mill restaurant no one can stop talking about: Why it’s worth a visit.

Chicken sandwiches have been a thing for a hot minute now.

Popeyes took on Chick-fil-A. Then they started popping up on menus all over Charlotte. (Here’s our guide to the 10 best chicken sandwiches in Charlotte, ranked.)

But now, there’s a new game in town. Well, slightly outside of town — just across the state line in Fort Mill. It’s called Super Chix, and it’s all anyone is talking about there. At school events. At Girl Scout meetings. On Facebook message boards.

“What did you get?”

“The line is long, but it moves fast.”

“That avocado!”

“What did you think of the pickles?”

The Simple at Super Chix comes with a chicken filet and kosher pickles on a butter-toasted potato bun. Other options include Cheesy BBQ, Buffalo Ranch, Korean BBQ and more.

Here’s the scoop: The small chain just landed in the growing suburb of Charlotte in mid-October, offering chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, salads and sides including flavored fries and fried pickles. There’s custard for dessert, too.

It’s a small chain: The next closest one to Charlotte is in Alabama, so the Fort Mill location is your best bet for giving it a try.

Why you should go: If you’re after flavor, these chicken sandwiches rival anything Chick-fil-A’s got. You can choose grilled or fried. There’s so many choices — including the Crispy Avo for vegetarians. And as a sign on the front door notes, it’s open on Sundays, too.

Super Chix salads come with your choice of grilled or breaded chicken. Choices include Southwest Chicken, Buffalo Ranch, Asian Sesame, Nashville Hot, House Salad or the vegetarian-friendly Crispy Avo.

What we tried: The Simple (for comparison purposes, of course), the Crispy Avo with a chicken fillet added (it’s stuffed with gouda, y’all) and the special Chicken Cordon Bleu (the all-around fave in our family), regular French fries and fried pickles.

The verdict: It was all hot, juicy and flavorful. As per what we heard, the line was out the door, but it did move fast. But the best part is the sauce bar: We got our order to-go and still managed to load up on options including ranch, honey mustard and Asian BBQ.
