Get in the spirit with these holiday pop-up bars in Charlotte

Seasonal pop-ups have sprung up all over the Charlotte area, turning bars and restaurants into a winter wonderland of lights, festive decorations and creative holiday drinks.

Each lasts through the end of December, but make your plans early. The Sippin’ Santa pop-up at the Royal Tot has already run out of available reservations.

Here are a few of the spots you can visit to get in on the cheer.

158 on Main’s Miracle on Main

Location: 158 N Main St., Mooresville, NC 28115

Neighborhood: Mooresville

The vibe: This Mooresville spot transformed with 3,000 Christmas packages and balls hanging from the ceiling and walls are decorated with wrapping paper. T

The drinks: The menu includes a cocktail list with drinks like vodka Christmapolitan and cognac Jingle Balls Nog. And, there are alcohol-free drinks like Reindeer Runover, made with a spiritless bourbon, gingerbread, orange oil and bitters.

What to know: Entry is first-come, first-served.

BackStage Lounge’s Miracle

Location: 2433 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203

Neighborhood: South End

The vibe: The halls are decked out Griswold-style, and there’s a slate of inventive drinks.

The drinks: Offerings include the Bad Santa, served hot with aged rum, velvet falernum, mixed spiced butter, oat milk and nutmeg, and the Elfing Around, with prosecco, gin, mulled wine reduction, grapefruit shrub, aromatic bitters and orange bitters.

What to know: Reservations are recommended.

BOCADO’s Winter Wonder Bar

Location: 2000 South Blvd., Suite 530, Charlotte, NC 28203

Neighborhood: SouthEnd

The vibe: The Winter Wonder Bar, available through New Year’s Eve, fills the space near the Rail Trail with nostalgic lights.

The drinks: The cocktail menu includes warm concoctions like the Buttered Bah Humbug with rum, housemade butterscotch, cinnamon and steamed milk, and the Smiling’s My Favorite, with vodka, pear, cinnamon, lemon and sparkling wine).

What to know: Reservations are accepted.

The Tavern’s Jingle City Bar

Location: 300 East Morehead St., Charlotte, NC 28202

Neighborhood: Uptown

The vibe: This interactive setup includes igloos, Santa’s Throne, Frosty the Snowman, life-sized ribbons, large nutcrackers, Santa-etts, oversized mistletoe and live music and DJs.

The drinks: Colorful holiday creations like Tipsy Rudolph and Beauty Santa.

What to know: There’s ticketed events like Jazzy Santa Sunday, Karaoke Night and a Christmas Eve ugly sweater party. The pop-up is also partnering with Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte to collect new and lightly used toys.
