Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails in Lake Norman’s Jetton Village shopping center will close Jan. 29 to make way for a new concept.

Cambridge Hospitality Group purchased the restaurant with plans to make renovations and reopen in March as Peninsula Prime Seafood & Steakhouse. The news was first reported by Cornelius Today.

Renovation plans for the modern Southern steakhouse call for a new look at the 7,000-square-foot restaurant, complete with a change of furniture and lighting, and a new sound system. Cambridge Hospitality partner Jim Gordon said the result would be community-centered environment with a heavy emphasis on entertainment, including live music.

As far as the food, “think big steaks and lobster,” he told CharlotteFive. And expect to see dishes such as Oysters Rockefeller and creamed collard greens.

Alton’s previous owners, Al Updike and Heather Clark, opened the restaurant in 2010. The married couple will still own and operate Table 31 restaurant in Mooresville.

“We’ve known and been customers of Al, Heather, and Alton’s for years,” Gordon said. “And when the opportunity to buy the restaurant and add it to our growing portfolio became available, we jumped at the chance..”

Other Cambridge Hospitality concepts in Cornelius are Jack’s Corner Tap, Kat’s Seafood Kitchen and Tropicana Sports Bar. Partner Rad Bennett oversees daily operations, and those restaurants will be getting a menu revamp, as well.

“Rad and I live and work here,” Gordon said. “The Lake Norman area is our home, and we are fully committed to building our brands to better serve and contribute to this community. Our vision is to create a group of dining and entertainment venues that are neighborhood-centric with outstanding product offerings; all of our plans will be in support of that goal.”
