A UNC Charlotte student needs your help: Take his farmers market poll, help his thesis
The following is a short introduction to a poll we’re running along with Sebastian Gominho, a graduate student in the Geography and Earth Sciences Department at UNC Charlotte. For his thesis, he’s studying the relationship between consumers, local farmers and farmers markets.
The Charlotte area is an ideal location for research because it’s one of the fastest growing cities in America. This rapid growth also brings about a higher demand for local foods. As more farmers markets begin to emerge, the local food community continues to grow.
The hope of this research is to understand what factors affect a consumer/vendor’s decision when choosing a farmers market.
Another goal of this research is to emphasize the relationship between local farmers and the consumers in their community. Farmers markets are not only a place of business, but also a place of community, health and education. Local farmers interact directly with their customers, provide the best quality foods, educate consumers about where food comes from, and even provide some of their own great recipes.
Take the poll below to add your voice to the conversation. It’s not scientific, but will help with this project. If you’re having problems seeing the poll, try turning off your ad blocker.
