This Charlotte favorite for burgers and beer is moo-ving toward opening in Matthews
Downtown Matthews will be welcoming a new resident this summer – Plaza Midwood hot spot Moo & Brew. The popular Charlotte restaurant will be opening its second location in the Depot Shopping Center.
“The space really lends itself to us being able to recreate the vibe from the Plaza Midwood location,” co-owner Ken Thomas said. “We’ve had our eye on Matthews for a few years now but just waiting for the perfect location to open up. We really love the ‘scene’ that’s been cultivated downtown over the past few years.”
The new space, which is taking the place of the former Moe’s BBQ, is undergoing significant construction. When complete, it will feature a new bar, ample indoor seating and an expansion of the existing outdoor seating, which will wrap around the building and extend into the current “backyard.”
Moo & Brew is known for its craft beers and extensive burger menu. The Matthews menu will be similar to the Plaza Midwood location, however, given the family-orientated nature of Matthews, the team is also focused on adding fun offerings for children.
Guests will be able to spice things up with the Peter Piper burger, topped with jalapeno bacon firecrackers, pepper jack house pickled jalapeno and diablo mayo. For those on the more traditional side, order your burger Carolina style — with chili, red onion, coleslaw and mustard.
If red meat is not on the menu for you, the restaurant’s Beyond Beef plant wrap and wild Alaska salmon burger offer alternatives. Always on tap? A selection of beers from Wicked Weed Funkatorium.
