Legion Brewing’s West Morehead taproom opening date delayed by a week. Mark your calendar.
The newest spot to sip a Juicy Jay — Legion Brewing’s West Morehead location — will be opening Monday, May 9 at the Salt + Vinegar project.
The third Legion taproom in Charlotte is attached to a 25,000-square-foot brewery that also boasts a courtyard beer garden. Guests will get a view into the production facility via equipment that begins the brewing process right behind the bar. The former potato chip factory property will feature experimental restaurants Biblio and Counter- nearby when they open later in 2022.
Earlier this month, Legion announced that it would open on May 2, but it pushed back the opening after an unexpected delay in obtaining its North Carolina ABC license. Don’t worry, that’s still not too many days to count between now and a new spot to sip Juicy Jay.

“The entire Legion team has been looking forward to this day for a while,” Legion Brewing owner and CEO Phil Buchy said in a statement. “And while this facility is primarily production-focused, the taproom menu and beer garden really standout and will offer a different experience for guests than our Plaza Midwood and SouthPark locations.”
What to drink there: Legion’s full beer lineup will be available — including Juicy Jay, Penguin Pils and Supernova — along with a selection of rotating taproom-only brews. Wine and cider will also be served.
What to eat there: International street foods are on the menu. Think: tacos al pastor, shawarma, gyros and more. Wood-fired Neopolitan-style pizzas and rotisserie-style meats are on the menu, too.
The vibe: Sports-friendly and vibrant. “This is a fast-growing, evolving part of town and such a great tailgating spot for our football and soccer team fans. We like to say that for all things we do, we take global inspiration and deliver it in a location,” Buchy said.
