Soon, you’ll be able to order ramen with fresh noodles made by hand daily when Menya Noodle Counter opens its doors in Charlotte.

You’ll find the new restaurant in Elizabeth behind The Crunkleton in the former Sandwich Max space, between Fifth Third Bank and Queens Pharmacy.

So, let’s talk about those noodles. Menya’s ramen will feature housemade wavy noodles, and you can get it in three styles: shoyu, tantan and tonkotsu. Menya will also offer housemade soba noodles for its tantan, shoyu and Jiro-style ninniku shoyu.

Pro tip: Think about topping off your order with a soft-boiled ajitama egg and some spicy chili crisp, still a hot trend in 2022. Both are available as add-ons.

Let me also call your attention to a menu item you won’t likely find anywhere else in Charlotte (at least not yet): the Tokyo Hot Chicken Sandwich. This is already a thing on the West Coast, marrying Nashville hot chicken with Japanese ingredients. Menya’s take on the dish will pair panko-coated fried chicken thigh with cabbage slaw, pickles, tartar sauce and Japanese seven spice (togarashi) on a Martin’s potato roll.
