El Toro Bruto in South End has a new dinner menu — and it’s going full service
You’ve been there for tacos, morning, noon and night. Now, El Toro Bruto is expanding its tasty offerings with full-service dining.
The popular taqueria run by chef Hector González-Mora has been cranking out Mexican food in Charlotte for more than a year now at Resident Culture South End, owned by Amanda and Phillip McLamb and Chris Tropeano. A full-service coffee shop at the brewery featuring its Mexican pastries and specialty drinks followed in June.
When its new dinner service starts Friday, look for your favorite tacos, along with mains such as:
- Shawty en Jugo, a beef short rib cooked in tomatillo broth and served with refried beans and corn topped with crispy bacon.
- Tamarind Glazed Fish, pan-seared and served with tender-leaf salad that includes charred pineapple, cucumber, red onion and avocado.
- Sweet potato + Mole, with mushrooms, cashew cream, toasted benne seed and crispy kale.
“This menu extension will be familiar, as it will have emphasis on deeply rooted Mexican flavors like our current offerings but in an approach that keeps the options new and seasonal. We want to be the go-to spot for Mexican food in South End,” González-Mora said.
You can make reservations for the new sit-down dinner service on OpenTable or walk-in 4:30-9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 4:30-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A host will greet guests and take them to their table in the Lager Fest Room, the back area of the taproom.
El Toro Bruto will continue to offer counter service and self-seating 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Sunday and 10:30 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday.
