A North Carolina cafe is small — but it makes a big mark on the dining scene in a popular tourist destination.

So much so, it was named the best place in the state to eat a burrito, according to recently published results.

Sunny Point Cafe — located in the mountain town of Asheville — topped the statewide list after the restaurant review website Yelp studied burrito-related posts. Then, it “ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning ‘burrito’” over time, findings show.

The results were released ahead of National Burrito Day, which falls on April 6 this year. To celebrate, restaurants across the United States historically have announced freebies and discounts.

In North Carolina, Sunny Point Cafe reigned supreme after fans flocked to Yelp to rave about the restaurant’s breakfast burritos. Several customers couldn’t get enough of tortillas they said were stuffed with tasty ingredients, helping the cafe earn more than four out of five stars.

“The breakfast burrito ain’t your average burrito,” one Yelp user wrote.

The dish — which includes “scrambled eggs, serranos, peppers, onions, white cheddar, chorizo or tofu chorizo, cilantro crema, red salsa” and a side — is on the menu with other breakfast favorites, such as omelets and stuffed french toast. The family-owned restaurant said it focuses on making comfort foods from scratch and taking a “farm-to-table approach.”

“At Sunny Point, we like fresh ingredients so much we have our own garden adjacent to the restaurant,” the cafe wrote on its website. “During peak growing season, staff works daily in the garden harvesting ingredients for our specials — hard to get much fresher!”

The cozy cafe, which has an outdoor patio, is located on Haywood Road in Asheville.

It isn’t the first time a place to eat or drink in the city has received recognition.

Last year, Asheville eateries made it onto lists of top places to find hot chocolate and outdoor dining. And more recently, Asheville was named one of the nation’s best cities for food lovers to visit, McClatchy News reported.
