New bar and lounge opens, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking uptown Charlotte

401 Social is now open on the ground floor of the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte Uptown, serving craft cocktails, handhelds, shareables and salads.

The 5,500-square-foot bar and lounge — featuring a patio overlooking the NASCAR Hall of Fame — is near the Blue Line light rail and across the street from the Charlotte Convention Center. 401 Social will be open nightly from 5-11 p.m., with food service starting at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy live music from 7-10 p.m. on Fridays.

The food: The menu is stacked with approachable salads, flatbreads and shareables, such as Rosemary & Garlic Fries, 401 Wings and Hummus & Pita. Entrees include Mediterranean Crusted Salmon, Greek Roasted Chicken and a Tuscan Burger, and you can finish out your meal with a sweet treat such as Lemon Pound Cake with semifreddo sauce and fresh berries or Tuxedo Cake with rich chocolate mousse and white chocolate filling.

The drinks: 401 Social’s specialty cocktails include the Peach 75, a riff on the classic French 75; a Charred Jalapeno Margarita made with Tequila Blanco, chipotle and cilantro; and the Queen City Spritzer with vodka, lime juice, basil and ginger ale. Rotating taps include local craft beer from Sycamore Brewing, Triple C, NoDa Brewing and OMB.

The atmosphere: The open space features plush banquettes, plus high-top and table seating with views of 20-foot tall artwork and 45-foot floor-to-ceiling glass windows. 401 Social can hold 180 people between the bar, lounge and outdoor patio.

“We have refreshed and rebranded this striking space to host business and leisure travelers, as well as locals,” Sheri Erhart, executive vice president of CMC Hotels, said in a statement. “401 Social will appeal to those who want to meet up after work or enjoy a fun night out. It’s also the perfect gathering place for those who want to enjoy a quick bite or pre- or post-event cocktail.”

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte Uptown opened in 2017 and is co-owned by CMC Hotels and BPR Properties, both of which are North Carolina-based and family-owned.
