Check out this popular Lake Norman eatery featured on ‘America’s Best Restaurants’
A local restaurant in the Lake Norman area is in the national spotlight. Rio 150, located in Mooresville, has been featured on America’s Best Restaurants.
The America’s Best Restaurants team travels across the country, featuring independent restaurants nationwide with new episodes airing online every day. In August, the crew stopped in Mooresville to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Mexican restaurant in Lake Norman.
“We want to give independent restaurants the spotlight they deserve,” Luis Rivera, host of America’s Best Restaurants, told CharlotteFive. “This place is awesome. It feels like it’s a community, and I just love their story — and that’s why we chose them.”
Multiple North Carolina restaurants have been highlighted on the show before, but Rio 150 is only the second one to be featured in Lake Norman. Cool Fish, located in Cornelius, was featured in July.
Rivera got a chance to learn more about Rio 150 and taste test some of the restaurant’s iconic dishes, including carne asada, the 56 oz. margarita and tacos.
“It’s very exciting. We’re very honored and humbled … we’re just so grateful for the exposure,” one of the owners, Rashel Limper, told CharlotteFive. “Since we rebranded four months ago, we just want people to come check us out, see what we offer and hope they keep coming back.”
The family owned restaurant has been in the area for years and was formerly known as La Unica Mooresville, but it recently rebranded as “Rio 150,” as it is located on River Highway 150.
The popular restaurant, known for having the largest margarita in Lake Norman, serves a variety of food with over 200 items on its menu.
