Have you met Bo-Linda? What to know about Bojangles’ new AI ordering system
If you’ve gone through a Bojangles drive-thru recently, you may have encountered the restaurant’s new robotic team member: Bo-Linda.
According to the Charlotte-based restaurant chain, “Bo-Linda is a conversational cloud-based AI platform deploying to some company and franchise locations.”
Currently, Bo-Linda is live at 18 locations and has proven to be efficient at taking orders, a spokesperson for Bojangles told The Charlotte Observer in an email.
“We are still evaluating the system and don’t have a timeline yet for all restaurants, but so far, we see that Bo-Linda improves the speed of our drive-thru by allowing the employees to focus on speed, quality and accuracy,” the spokesperson said.
Here’s what to know about Bo-Linda.
What can Bo-Linda do?
Here are some of the things Bo-Linda is capable of, according to Bojangles:
Taking guest orders 96% of the time with no human intervention
Explaining menu items and modifiers/options to guests
Advising guests when the restaurant is out of a menu item
Increasing order accuracy
Providing a consistent guest experience
Providing upselling on every order (helpful if you want to Bo-Size)
How to use Bo-Linda
Customers can place orders with Bo-Linda the same way as with a team member, according to Bojangles.
There are commands employees can give Bo-Linda to advise if an item is out of stock or intervene in an order, Bojangles says.
What to do if you experience issues with Bo-Linda
Guests can ask to speak to a team member if Bo-Linda is not able to complete an order.
Customers who experience issues while ordering with Bo-Linda can also visit bojangles.com and submit a guest experience survey, the spokesperson said.
Does Bo-Linda record or monitor voices?
According to Bojangles, Bo-Linda “may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance and training purposes and to better enable our automated ordering system.”
“By using the Bo-Linda ordering system, you acknowledge and agree to be monitored and recorded,” Bojangles says.
