Charlotte gelato spot with a cool name, savory flavors will close
After two years in Plaza Midwood, Cold Hearted Gelato has announced it’s permanently closing its doors on Friday, Aug. 16.
“When we opened our doors, we set out to create unique Chef driven flavors for our customers to enjoy. A charming corner shop with a relaxing vibe and crazy creations. We wanted to give Charlotte something it didn’t have, and we did that!” the shop posted via Instagram. “I am extremely proud of what we have achieved.”
You’ll be able to get a taste of some of Cold Hearted Gelato’s craft flavors until 11 p.m. Friday, owner and chef Elinn Hesse said in the post, adding: “If you love food, be adventurous.”
Hesse moved to Charlotte from New York City about seven years ago with her long-term boyfriend Greg Guillorn and his business partner John Wentworth, who own The Degenerate in Villa Heights.
Hesse told CharlotteFive in 2022 that the city had seen an incredible amount of growth in the last few years. “We’re really excited to be kind of part of it when it started and stuff,” she said at the time.
