Three North Carolina restaurants rank among the best in US. Why fans can’t get enough
North Carolina is home to three of the nation’s best restaurants — so bring your appetite, a new report finds.
All three restaurants established themselves as fan favorites when they ranked on past national lists. This time around, review website Yelp said the dining destinations are among the “Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025.” Here’s where each one landed in the rankings:
- Odeh’s Mediterranean Kitchen in High Point at No. 13
- Freeman’s Grub & Pub in Greensboro at No. 35
- Nick’s Old Fashion Hamburger House in Lexington at No. 60
To create the list, Yelp said it received user submissions from across the country. The website studied reviews and ratings that customers left for the restaurants before Yelp workers narrowed down the most beloved places, according to results published Wednesday, Feb. 12.
What makes the NC restaurants fan favorites?
Among the most beloved North Carolina restaurants, Odeh’s Mediterranean Kitchen ranked the highest at No. 13. The dining spot says it serves “authentic, fresh Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food.”
On Yelp, fans said they couldn’t get enough of foods that range from baklava to baba ganoush. Several customers also raved about the customer service and welcoming atmosphere at the restaurant in High Point.
Nearby in Greensboro, Freeman’s Grub & Pub received praise on Yelp for putting a spin on favorite bar foods. Meanwhile, some customers went online to rave about the cheese-topped burgers at Nick’s Old Fashion Hamburger House in Lexington, a synonymous with a style of barbecue.
The restaurants aren’t strangers to receiving recognition. In January 2024, Odeh’s Mediterranean Kitchen joined Freeman’s Grub & Pub on Yelp’s list of top U.S. restaurants, McClatchy News reported.
Then in September, Yelp named Nick’s Old Fashion Hamburger House as one of the nation’s best places to eat a cheeseburger.
In the latest rankings, the nation’s No. 1 restaurant was Holbox, a casual Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles.
