Rock Hill is next to get Swig, following the Indian Land soda shop TikTok craze
Rock Hill dirty soda fans who’ve tried the trending Swig drink spot in Indian Land didn’t just get a beverage. They got a taste of what’s to come.
Warren Norman Company announced another Swig will go into the Sharonwood Shopping Center in Rock Hill. The site at the corner of Celanese and India Hook roads is in development, with construction set to start this summer.
Swig is a Utah-based drive-thru soda shop. It’s been popularized on TikTok and by brand fans who appear in the Hulu reality show, ”The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” Among several beverage options is the dirty soda, or a soda mixed with toppings and creams.
The Indian Land Swig on Charlotte Highway, near Dobys Bridge Road, is the first in the Carolinas.
It opened two weeks ago to lines of an hour or more. Those lines lasted throughout the first week. Rock Hill will have the second Charlotte-area spot. The closest Swig spots are in Knoxville, Tennessee, Chattanooga, Tennessee, or Orlando.
Swig opened its 100th store in February, according to owner Larry H. Miller Co., and has plans to open more nationwide. There’s no word yet if any are coming near or in Charlotte on the North Carolina side of the border.
The new Rock Hill spot will be 700 square feet with a drive-thru. It’s part of the first building to be constructed in Sharonwood.
The 7-acre development that was once part of Sharonwood Lane will have four retail buildings. Three will be multi-tenant buildings along India Hook, and the other will be an outparcel beside Take 5 Oil Change on Celanese.
This is a developing story.
