Raising Cane’s, a national chain with a menu built entirely around chicken fingers, is moving into the Charlotte area.

A firm date has not yet been set for the opening in Rock Hill at the former Bob Evans restaurant location. But by late this year or early 2026, Raising Cane’s chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries and Cane’s sauce will make an appearance, a Raising Cane’s representative confirmed to CharlotteFive.

Charlotteans have been eager to get a bite of Raising Cane’s in the area for years. Additional locations could be on the way, but none have been confirmed. Charlotte Business Journal reported the company is hiring an area director of operations, whose role will focus on growth, among other things.

The suburban Rock Hill location isn’t yet listed on Raising Cane’s website, but area residents have known the fast-casual spot was on the way for some time. Posts in the Rock Hill Eats Facebook group have tracked it since at least December, when a member first posted a city planning screenshot of the redevelopment plans.

The Raising Cane’s location is now listed on Google as temporarily closed, but hiring for the store’s management team has already begun. Rock Hill planning and development staff member Cecilia Carey said the building permit for the site has not yet been issued.

The site sits in a busy area off Interstate 77’s Dave Lyle Boulevard exit, with a shopping center, movie theater and other restaurants nearby, including an Olive Garden across the street.

The restaurant chain got its start in Louisiana in 1996 and has grown to hundreds of locations under the leadership of CEO and founder Todd Graves.

North Carolina’s three existing locations are in Chapel Hill, Camp Lejeune and Greenville. South Carolina has locations open in Clemson, Summerville, North Charleston and Mt. Pleasant.
