Milkshakes, sundaes and small-batch chocolates, oh my.

Charlotteans can soon satiate their sweet tooth at the Milkshake Factory’s newest location at 100 W. Third St., in uptown, the dessert shop announced this week.

The grand opening is Saturday, Aug. 23, when customers can enjoy buy one, get one free milkshakes, sundaes and molten cups from noon until 4 p.m., the ice cream shop’s owners said in a news release. The celebration will also include a live DJ and giveaways.

What started as a soda fountain and chocolate shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is now a dessert lover’s paradise offering more than 26 flavors of handspun shakes, according to the Milkshake Factory’s website.

Customers have their pick of signature creations like campfire s’mores and chocolate cake shake, and classic flavors like strawberry and chocolate. Each shake features the Milkshake Factory’s house-made ice cream, the brand said.

Other treats include sundaes, small-batch chocolates, molten cups and dairy-free shakes.

The new location marks the Milkshake Factory’s debut in Charlotte. It will join two other North Carolina stores — one in Cary, and the other in Durham.

“We couldn’t imagine a better place to open our first Charlotte location than Uptown,” co-owner Deepak Murthy said in the release. “It’s the center of the city and we are located adjacent to the Romare Bearden park near Truist park, BOFA Stadium and many other attractions, making it conveniently accessible to people working, living and visiting the city, and we wanted to be right in the middle of it all.”

Murthy owns and operate the new dessert shop alongside his two friends and business partners, Manjesh Gorajala and Shailendra Nanduri.

“We’re excited to become a destination where locals and visitors alike can treat themselves to something memorable,” Nanduri said.

At Saturday’s grand opening, the first 100 people in line will receive a Milkshake Factory T-shirt, according to the release. The lucky person at the head of the line will also be gifted an “exclusive prize basket.”
