Vegan cafe expands in Charlotte with new carryout concept. ‘We’re on the Moo’ve’

A popular vegan café just launched a new concept perfect for Charlotteans on the go.

Oh My Soul on The Moo’ve has opened in uptown Charlotte, offering a variety of grab-and-go vegan food options at its new spot on the ground floor of the Ally Building on South Tryon Street, the restaurant said via Instagram.

It’s a spinoff of Oh My Soul in NoDa, which opened its doors in 2020. The restaurant serves plant-based fare with bold South African flavors, and was voted runner-up in CharlotteFive’s Readers’ Choice best patio poll in 2024.

“Come taste the flavors of Mzansi, feel the African spirit, and enjoy everything house-made, fridge-safe, and packed with the most delicious food, desserts, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and coffees,” Oh My Soul wrote in an Instagram post, announcing the location’s Oct. 13 opening.

At Oh My Soul on the Moo’ve, customers can find wraps, salads, sandwiches and more, according to its website. Sides include a spicy South African pasta salad made with sweet peppers, red onion, cucumber, tomatoes and dairy-free feta crumbles.

Tea and smoothies are on the menu, as are snacks (or padkos) such as hummus, overnight oats and chocolate chia protein bowls.

Oh My Soul has become a go-to spot for Charlotte vegans — and pop superstar Billie Eilish. The Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter grabbed a meal at the NoDa location during a weekend tour stop in the Queen City, Richard and Tallulah Duffin said. Then her parents visited the next day.
