Charlotte ‘beerstro’ closing its doors after 8 years. ‘Not an easy decision’

The Casual Pint of Rivergate has announced that it will permanently close at the end of the week.

The Charlotte “beerstro,” known for its lineup of local and regional craft beers, will serve its final pours Saturday, Dec. 27, owner Bruce Allen confirmed in a message shared to Facebook.

“It wasn’t an easy decision,” Allen wrote, citing rising costs and tight margins.

“The last three years have been tough,” he continued. “COVID changed a lot of things, and even though we kept the doors open and did our best to adapt, the business never quite made it back to where it was before.”

The Casual Pint opened in Steele Creek’s Rivergate Shopping Center in 2017, offering beer lovers 35 rotating taps and light bites that included wings, flatbreads and more, CharlotteFive previously reported.

A few wines were also available alongside cider on tap.

Allen invited customers to the beer bar for one last hurrah as he looks ahead to “enjoying the simple things in life I once took for granted.”

“I leave with a heart full of gratitude, pride, and — yes — sorrow,” he wrote. “It’s hard to let go of something you gave everything to. But I also leave with hope. Hope that the people, the memories, and the spirit of this place will continue in ways I can’t yet imagine.”

CharlotteFive reached out to The Casual Pint for more information Tuesday and was awaiting a response.
