Popular sports bar chain plans to open new spot in University City. What we know
A popular sports bar chain will soon sling its famous wings at a new spot in Charlotte.
Buffalo Wild Wing has filed zoning use and sign permits for a new location on North Tryon Street in University City, according to documents viewed by CharlotteFive.
The permits, requested Thursday, Jan. 22, seek a wall sign, door vinyl and tenant panel for the forthcoming restaurant.
Beyond its famous buffalo-style chicken wings, Buffalo Wild Wings offers over two dozen sauces and dry rubs — from lemon pepper and Thai curry to desert heat and chipotle barbecue, according to its website. Burgers and fries are also on the menu alongside sandwiches, wraps and appetizers.
The chain currently has seven Charlotte-area locations, including spots in Northlake, uptown and South Charlotte.
The new restaurant is set to open at the Terraces at University Place, though the timeline is unclear. The shopping center is home to several other retailers including Caribbean Hut, Iron Dish Korean BBQ and Kung Fu Tea.
CharlotteFive reached out to Buffalo Wild Wings for more information Jan. 26 and was awaiting a response.
This is a developing story and will be updated. Catherine Muccigrosso contributed reporting.
