Chargrilled burger joint quietly closes after 3 years in Lake Norman. What to know
The Habit Burger and Grill has quietly closed in Mooresville.
The fast-food chain, known for its chargrilled burgers, shuttered its storefront at 379 W. Plaza Drive this week, according to signage posted in one of the windows. The reason wasn’t immediately clear.
That location opened in 2023, taking over a former Popeyes chicken, CharlotteFive previously reported. At the time, it marked Habit’s sixth Charlotte-area store as the California-based chain expanded in the metro.
“While we’ve closed this Habit Burger & Grill location, you can still enjoy your chargrilled favorites at one of our nearby restaurants,” the sign read.
The burger joint was also listed as “permanently closed” on Google as of Tuesday, April 21.
CharlotteFive reached out to the restaurant for more information and was awaiting a response.
Founded in 1969, Habit Burger & Grill specializes in made-to-order chargrilled burgers, chicken and tuna sandwiches. Fries and milkshakes are also on the menu alongside salads and signature sides.
The burger chain has multiple Charlotte-area locations, including spots in Denver, Monroe and Indian Land, South Carolina.
Joe Marusak and Catherine Muccigrosso contributed reporting.
