Which Charlotte barbecue restaurants do you miss the most? Let us know

For generations of Charlotteans, barbecue restaurants have served as community gathering places, bringing along the kind of nostalgia built from decades of memory-making with family and friends.

But just as the city’s skyline and neighborhoods keep changing, many of those legendary smokehouses have since faded into history.

Bar-B-Q King closed last year, drawing lines in its final days of folks hoping for a few more bites of the iconic minced and sliced sandwiches they grew up with. Plans call for a First National Bank branch at the site.

And early this year, Bubba’s Barbecue — perhaps the city’s last old-school restaurant focused on Eastern North Carolina-style chopped pork — shut down for good, dealing out another blow for longtime Charlotte residents. And while a new restaurant touting Texas-style meats and hefty portion sizes has filled the space, the loss remains.
