New signage indicates that Pelican’s Snoballs is coming soon to a bright blue building on the corner of North Davidson and 15th streets in the Belmont neighborhood, near NoDa. According to a representative at the Pelican’s Snoballs corporate office, the business may open in about a month, just in time for the end of summer.

The sign popped up directly across the street from the Area 15 small-business incubator (with Mac Tabby Cafe, Comic Girl Coffee and more). The blue building will join Charlotte-area Pelican’s locations including Statesville Road and North Tryon Street, according to the website.

The North-Carolina-based franchise offers more than 100 flavors of snowballs (a New Orleans dessert tradition), ranging from strawberry cheesecake, to cherry cola, to fuzzy navel (someone out there — tell me what this actually tastes like).

The menu promises a gluten-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, high-fructose-corn-syrup-free experience, plus the option for sugar-free flavors.
