How Cloosiv aims to boost Charlotte’s local coffee scene—and the other cities the app is headed to
Local startup Cloosiv is pivoting to focus on what its users care about most: coffee.
No longer is the Dunkin’ drive-through or the Starbucks app the only way to get a quick cup of joe. You can use Cloosiv to pre-order and pay for your beverage from your phone on the way to a local coffee shop, pop in to grab it off the counter, then go on with your day without missing a beat.
Cloosiv was originally designed to allow users to purchase not just coffee, but food, retail, beer and more, all from one app. But in the 26 weeks since the app’s initial launch, it became clear that users were most actively using the app’s functionality to save time and money at local coffee shops.
“Our users have indicated through feedback and behavior that the Cloosiv coffee ordering experience adds the most value to their lives,” said Tim Griffin, founder and CEO at Cloosiv. “It’s not that our vision has changed — we’re still focused on delivering a payments app that you can use anywhere. But coffee is oftentimes the cornerstone of local commerce, and we’re dedicated to supporting that merchant community with Cloosiv.”
The app will continue to allow you to order ahead and skip the line at your local coffee shops. But over the coming weeks, Cloosiv will be rolling out a new-and-improved version of the app that is even more tailored to the coffee ordering experience.
They’ll be introducing new features like filters, a re-order button, and scheduled orders — in addition to a brand new rewards program designed to help users save money on their morning joe.
In addition to making these changes to the app, Cloosiv will also be expanding its reach beyond just Charlotte. You can expect to start seeing Cloosiv-friendly merchants in Winston-Salem, Raleigh and Columbia in the near future.
“We’re focused on supporting the 500 independent coffee shops in North Carolina,” said Griffin. “More broadly, this pivot allows us to extend our services to the 2,500 coffee shops in Columbia, Atlanta, Houston and Austin, as well as the 2,000 shops scattered between those major cities.”
So, whether you’re in Charlotte or traveling, Cloosiv is evolving to be the one app you need when you want to support local coffee shops without waiting in line or standing around while your beverage is being made. Keep an eye out for these changes to the app in mid-July.
