From mud baths to massages: The top 5 luxury amenities available for your dog
It is no secret that Charlotteans have a soft spot for their furry children. I’ve had my dog, Maddie, for five years, and I am continuously impressed with the city’s dog friendliness. But it’s more than just dog bars and dog parties at breweries. There are some really crazy amenities available for anytime you feel like treating your dog to a little something extra.
Here are the 5 craziest amenities for dogs in town:
(1) Doggy Daiquiris, Cannoli and Cakes
The daiquiris are booze-free, but I promise your dog will not notice. They have seasonal flavors as well, including a fall pumpkin spice daiquiri so your dog can be just as basic as you.
Where to find it: Canine Café; 125 Remount Road, Unit A
Other amenities include: This is your one-stop shop for all of the best homemade treats, beverages and birthday “pawty” cakes for your best friend on four legs. They also offer a do-it-yourself dog spa where they provide all of the equipment and all-natural shampoos, while you do the dirty work.
Cost: The bakery has options from $2-$20. Do-it-yourself dog spa is $15 for a bath.
(2) Doggy Massage and Hot Oil Wrap or Mud Bath
Your doggo is treated to an in-bath massage, followed by a warm oil application and warm towel wrap. You could also spring for the mud bath instead.
Where to find it: Whiskers Dog Spa; 7816 Fairview Road
Other amenities include: Nail painting, “pawdicures” (think tee tree oil foot soaks), teeth brushing, and your run-of-the-mill baths.
Cost: $15 for a mud bath or wrap
(3) Trendy / Creative Doggy Hair Styles
Creativity sets The Dog Salon apart. They will give your pup a creative coloring, mohawk, airbrush, or even temporary tattoos. All of them are safe and sure to make your dog the coolest in the park.
Where to find it: The Dog Salon; 1318 Central Ave., Suite E1
Other amenities include: All other grooming options like nail trims and under-coat removal for the less trend-setting pup.
Cost: Full color ranges from $25-$50, depending on the size.
(4) Mobile Grooming
For the dog mom (or dad) on the go – the van has everything for a top-notch dog grooming, and they come right to your home.
Where to find it: Aussie Pet Mobile; it comes to you!
Other amenities include: Deshedding treatments, teeth brushing, therapeutic shampoos, and Pawdicures for special occasions.
Cost: $85 per visit (prices may vary depending on dog size)
(5) Doggy Suites
I know a lot of dog parents have anxiety about leaving their pets for long periods of time, but Social Pet is to here to help. They offer three options to house your pet. The cheapest is a condo, but you can upgrade to either a villa or suite. The suites offer your pup an entire bedroom to themselves, including live webcam monitoring, so you can check in whenever you want.
Where to find it: Social Pet; 3814 Monroe Road Charlotte, NC 28205, 515 Towne Center Blvd. Pineville, NC 28134
Other amenities include: Daycare, “Yappy Hour” for the extended stay, and turn-down service for an extra fee, which includes a personal massage and one-on-one cuddle time for your pup.
Cost: The suites run up to $70 per night, but a simple condo is $44 and a villa is $52.
