The 8 weirdest things I found on Charlotte Craiglist — from a singing mother-in-law plaque to a landmark billboard
I think we all know that Craigslist can be a strange place. There are very few things you can’t find on the website if you’re willing to put in the time to do some deep diving. Lucky for you, I was willing to put in that time and found some odd “treasures” during my search.
A few years back, we published a list of 20 of the most fascinating things on Charlotte Craigslist, but I thought that list could use some updating. So, here is my list of the eight weirdest things you can find on Charlotte Craigslist today.
(1) A historic Charlotte sign
Want to own a piece of Charlotte history? Well now you can for the low, low price of $10,000! The historic JFG Special Coffee billboard, most recently seen in the AvidXchange Music Factory, has been available on Craigslist since June 2016. The 10,000-lb. sign has been a part of Charlotte’s history since 1964.
(2) An empty milk bottle
It’s just an empty one quart milk bottle … that’s it. It’s made of duraglass and probably at one time or another held some milk. The best part of this item is the asking price. The seller wants a whopping $20 for the empty bottle.
(3) Milk
Wow, if you liked number two, do I have the perfect follow up item for you! What better to fill up that empty milk bottle than some actual milk? Can this combo deal get even better? Why yes, it can because the milk is completely free! They are offering up a half gallon of lactose free, one percent milk and a half gallon of lactose free, skim milk. Neither half gallon has been opened, but the expiration dates are coming up in mid-January and February, so act quick.
(4) Talking mother-in-law plaque
The post says these things are rare, but it’s hard to find the words to describe exactly what I’m looking at here. You remember those Big Mouth Billy Bass things people used to hang on their walls? This is that, but so much scarier. Just watch the video below to get the full idea. It’s all yours for $25.
(5) A dwarf pygmy goat
The perfect gift for those people in your life that want a pet, but want an animal that matches their distinctive personality. The ad even says the goat is “cuddly”. It is already weaned and is grazing well, so make sure you’ve got plenty of land to keep this little guy full and happy. The seller is asking for $125.
(6) Vintage Duke Power name badges
A nice little touch for a possible Halloween costume of an old-timey worker for the company now known as Duke Energy. You can even make it a group costume, as you can buy five of these for just $1.
(7) Starbucks sign
Can’t stay how this one was obtained, but the seller says it’s an actual sign from a Starbucks restaurant. This sign is going for $1,000 and would certainly be quite a gift for anyone who loves all things Starbucks. Not sure what you would do with it though, cause it certainly doesn’t look like any household mount could handle the weight.
(8) Handmade German dolls
There were plenty of creepy dolls on the Charlotte Craigslist, but these came out the winners for me. The seller says the dolls are handmade and come from the late 1930s or early 1940s. The one in the red dress especially has a soulless looking face that is sure to haunt your nightmares. It’ll cost you $85 for both.
