The latest addition to the Charlotte brunch scene may surprise you, but it deliciously delivers. Legion Brewing Company, which has already tested the brunch waters with their Sunday Brunch and Brews menu, will debut their new “hot” brunch offerings this weekend.
Created and prepared by Nathan Snow, kitchen manager with Legion Brewing and a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, the brunch offerings are meant to complement the beers on tap.
“Once the ‘Brunch Bill’ came into effect, we wanted to offer our friends something fun to snack on before our Namastay at Yoga class on Sunday, or while they came in to fill their crowlers before the big game,” says Legion Brewing marketing manager Brittany Smith. “Our Carolina Sparkle Party beermosas have always been a big hit, so why not have a few breakfast food items to pair with them?”
Brunch is served on Sundays at Legion from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Here is what you can expect on the Brunch and Brews menu:
Southwest Grit Bowl or Burrito ($8.50)
This bowl or burrito option includes chorizo, cage free eggs, cheddar cheese, housemade salsa, avocado and jalapenos. You have the option of having this served on a bed of smoked cheddar grits or pressed in a spinach tortilla. I opted for the grit bowl.
Breakfast Sliders (3 sliders for $7.50)
Bacon, cage free eggs, cheddar cheese, tomato and black pepper aioli on a brioche slider bun.
Mixed Berry Parfait ($5.50)
Greek yogurt with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, honey and housemade almond granola.
Maple Canyon Waffle (the waffles are seasonal, $8.50)
Belgian waffle, Maple Canyon ale chocolate reduction, housemade Chantilly cream with candied bacon.
“When it comes to the waffles, they are always fun and versatile,” says Smith. “We brew with local ingredients, so using them to complement our food menu only made sense.”
This Saturday, in honor of the Maple Canyon brown ale release, one of Legion’s original beers and one of their most popular limited release beers, Legion will serve a brunch at a lower price point at the Maple Canyon Brunch Release.
For the Saturday Maple Canyon release party (10 a.m.–1 p.m. will be brunch, but the party goes until 11 p.m.) the menu will be slightly different, but Sunday will be business as usual with their standard Brunch and Brews menu.
The Saturday menu will include the grit bowl/burrito served with bacon and not chorizo, a garden veggie frittata with zucchini, onion, red pepper, tomato, spinach, gruyere and cheddar cheeses for $8.00, and Maple Canyon Floats made with ice cream from Two Scoops. There will also be traditional root beer floats for kids of all ages.
