Forget swimsuit season — bring on the flaky biscuits! This comfort food spot will open two locations in Charlotte this spring
Maple Street Biscuit Co., a restaurant focusing on comfort food with a modern twist, will open its first N.C. locations in SouthPark and Concord this spring – ideally around the same time. The SouthPark store is a remodel that will be located at 721 Governor Morrison St., while the Concord store will be a rebuild located at 8875 Christenbury Parkway.
Here are five items that we’ll need to wear our stretchy pants for:
The Squawking Goat: Flaky biscuit, all natural fried chicken breast, fried goat cheese medallion, house-made pepper jelly. $8
Hashups: Home fries with chopped smoked ham, red and green peppers, grilled onions and melted cheddar cheese. $4. Add home-made gravy for an additional $1.50
The Farmer: Flaky biscuit, all natural fried chicken breast, pecan-wood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, topped with our house-made apple butter. $7
Bluegrass Grits Bowl: Stone-ground white hominy grits, cut with cream cheese and butter, topped with pecan-wood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, one sunny side up egg, chives and a splash of hot sauce. $7
BAM!: House-made brown butter vanilla bean waffle with Asiago cheese and pecan-wood smoked bacon baked inside.
Signature biscuits range from $5 – $9, biscuits and gravy options are $5 – $7. Sides, including their five blend mac ‘n’ cheese and grits bowls, are $4 – $7. A half dozen flaky biscuits will cost $9, while a dozen is $18. A half dozen iced cinnamon pecan biscuits (YUM) will go for $12 and a dozen for $24. Healthier options include their field-to-fork salads, that are $6.50 – $8.75.
Maple Street Biscuit Co. first opened its doors in Jacksonville, FL in 2012.
Inside both the SouthPark and Concord restaurants, you can expect to see round tables and long community tables.
“We want to put people in each other’s lives,” said Chris Litton, the Community Leader for the Concord store. “During 80 to 90 percent of the day, you’ll see our community leaders getting to know our guests.”
Another tactic they use to create community is asking each person who orders a meal a particular question. An example of a question may be “What’s your favorite love song?” one month or “What’s one of your goals in 2018?.” When the team member calls out your answer to your question, that means your order is ready.
“For us, Maple Street Biscuit Co. isn’t transactional, it’s relational,” Litton said.
You’ll also have the option to order online at each of the new restaurants. Sounds like I know what I’ll be doing on Saturday mornings from here on out.
Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Friday – Saturday: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sunday: CLOSED
