Everywhere we turn in our social bubble, there’s someone with a side hustle.
In our office, Alicia Thomas, sponsored content editor for C5 and the Charlotte Observer, takes local fitness to another level outside of her office hours with Work For Your Beer. She and her friend Melanie Fox launched their online “master guide” to brewery fitness in the Charlotte area back in 2016.
C5 editor Katie Toussaint’s side hustle is a little more low-key — she teaches classes at hot power yoga studio Y2 Yoga, as well as teaches private yoga lessons, when she’s not at her desk.
Then there’s Erin Maddrey in our department, who works as editor of Carolina Bride Magazine and as the owner of BlueTide Creative, a company that assists clients with public relations, branding and content needs. Her side gigs: working as a contributing writer to various publications locally and beyond, and working as chief relations officer with coworking hub Advent Coworking.
But enough about us. Who in Charlotte has the coolest side gig?
Over the next week, we’ll collect your nominations, whether you’re nominating yourself (totally allowed) or somebody else. Nominations are open now through 5 p.m. Friday, April 6.
We’ll announce the 10 Coolest Side Hustles, spotlighted in an article in CharlotteFive, on Wednesday, April 11. A selection of those “coolest” side-gig specialists may be eligible to speak at a 35 Below panelist event.
