Get ready to try these 8 bars and restaurants opening in June
As if the onset of summer isn’t exciting enough, June is bringing fun new bars and restaurants to Charlotte. Here are eight to watch for:
Whole Foods Uptown
400 E. Stonewall St.
There is an enormous banner on the Novel Stonewall Station building facing I-277 with the date June 13 emblazoned across it. And we’re ready. And hungry. The doors to Uptown’s first full-sized grocery store will open at 9 a.m. that day. Take time to explore the 47,000 square feet, including a mezzanine and lower vestibule area, as well as the bar for coffee and draft beer, plus prepared foods and made-to-order sandwiches and salads.
Bulla Gastrobar
4310 Sharon Rd., Suite W01
Dine on an authentic Spanish menu filled with Spanish tapas and cocktails at Bulla (pronounced “boo-ya”). Look for items like cured meats from Spain, Gambas Al Ajillo with sautéed shrimp, garlic and guindilla, and Huevos ‘Bulla’ with eggs, homemade potato chips, Serrano ham, potato foam and truffle oil. Other dishes range from Croquetas de Jamón, Serrano ham croquettes and fig jelly; to Paella with Valencia-style rice, clams, shrimp, chicken, calamari, red sofrito and saffron. And it’s all nicely paired with signature cocktails like the Bullfighter with Bulleit bourbon, Aperol, Dow’s Port, lemon juice and cranberry; the Lemongrass Collins with St. Germain, Martin Miller’s gin, lemongrass syrup and cucumber; as well as three mixtures of Sangria.
The Queen & Glass
1315 East Blvd., Suite 115
Popular mixologist Bob Peters, formerly of The Punch Room Uptown, is teaming up with Cory Duran, the owner of The People’s Market, to open this new, not-obvious-to-the-eye bar in Dilworth. Peters is the consultant, while Duran will be running the show at this space tucked into the side of People’s Market. Expect neighborhood-bar-meets-cocktail-lounge, vs. a speakeasy vibe, with fun cocktails and a small plates menu.

Reid’s Fine Foods Uptown
This beloved gourmet market (with locations in SouthPark and Myers Park) will bring both dine-in and to-go options for breakfast and lunch, a wine shop, catering and gift baskets to Uptown in June or early July. The main difference: There will be no wine bar at this new location.

Common Market Southend
235 W. Tremont Ave.
We’ve waited so long for this moment, ever since the Common Market Southend closed its doors in 2016 on Camden Road. Loved for its quirky trinkets, delicious deli options from salads to sandwiches, wines and beers by the bottle and by the glass, and random but perfect snacks (sometimes you just need ginger chews and black-and-white cookies), this bodega is set to open mid-June at its new spot.
Gusto Farm to Street
4400 Sharon Rd.
This farm-to-table concept is set to open at SouthPark Mall June 30 with healthy grains and greens, hormone and antibiotic free meats and fresh, plus locally sourced produce. Craft-your-own salads and pizza will be available as well.

Brewers at 4001 Yancey
4001 Yancey Road
This new watering hole, a collaboration between Southern Tier Brewery and Victory Beer, should be ready in June to start serving brews. The 28,000-square-foot brewery will have a main taproom with several semi-private lounge areas and a 25-barrel, four-vessel brewing system. When you get there, you can sip at three outdoor patios and two beer gardens (one is private).
Yume Bistro
1508 S. Mint St.
It’s been delayed but we’re finally ready for this Japanese-influenced cafe to move into the Gold District from its previous home in Matthews. Opening the week of June 16, you can dive into a lot of dishes from the original menu, along with more Japanese entrees, sushi, yakitori-style skewers and house-made desserts.
