Alino pizza fans, you’re getting a new burger spot with healthy twists

Michal Bay, who has already found a following with Alino Pizzeria in Mooresville, has added a new spot with a twist.

Barcelona Burger & Beer Garden, in Merino Mill, 500 S. Main St. in Mooresville, offers burgers and rotisserie chicken with a healthful focus (no additives, Angus beef) and sides like sweet potato fries and roasted vegetables. Of course, there are indulgent sides too (onion rings and fried pickles) and Bay plans to add a version of poutine, the Canadian favorite of french fries topped with gravy and cheese.

Salads include a kale berry mix and there’s a vegetarian burger with black beans, quinoa and walnuts. Bay developed the menu with help from Davidson cookbook author Jennifer Brule.

Barcelona also includes a selection of international beers and a take-out market with charcuterie, cheeses, olive oil and vinegars.

What’s Barcelona got to do with burgers? Bay says he picked the name because Barcelona is his favorite city.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
