This is the ultimate Charlotte podcast

In 2015, we wrote a story about the state of Charlotte podcasts. There were about 15 at the time, and we said there was plenty of room for improvement. So we decided to do something about it, launching the CharlotteFive Podcast in January 2016. We wanted to create a show that talked about all of the interesting people, places and things in this great city.

Apparently we weren’t the only ones.

Who: Miller Yoho and John Short launched The Charlotte Podcast in January 2016, just a week after we launched the CharlotteFive Podcast. (Great minds, huh?) Instead of challenging them to an “Anchorman”-style battle royale for podcast supremacy, we invited them to join us on this week’s CharlotteFive Podcast to record the ultimate Charlotte podcast episode.

What: We spent the podcast talking about — you guessed it — Charlotte. We learned what inspired John and Miller to start this passion project (they both have full-time jobs, after all), their favorite guests, and why they think it’s important for both of our shows to be fostering deep conversations about Charlotte. And we asked them why they decided to copy our idea for a podcast. (We were joking — kind of.)

To break the ice we played a “The Newlywed Game”-style game with John and Miller to see just how well the podcast hosts know each other.

Anything else?

– We brought a bottle of champagne to the recording while Miller and John brought a six pack of Miller High Life — “The Champagne of Beers.” This was completely unplanned, but perfect.

– We recorded this on the first day of summer (Wednesday) so we talked about our favorite things to do in the summer.

– Somehow, during the above conversation, we got sidetracked and started talking about being attacked by small animals. I’m still not sure how that happened.
