Have you been busy getting your fitness on this week? Don’t forget these 10 ways to twerk, lift and spin around Charlotte. But for now, let’s relax and get offline.
(1) Pair Cocktails & Gardens at The Duke Mansion
Thursday, 5-8 p.m. The Duke Mansion, 400 Hermitage Road.
Don’t forget Cocktails & Gardens, The Duke Mansion’s Monday–Thursday happy hour in their recently renovated four-acre gardens and grounds. Grab a date or group and head for a cocktail hour to remember.
(2) Try Your Hand at Axe Throwing
Thursday, 6-9 p.m. Free. NoDa Company Store, 3221 Yadkin Ave.
Hone your axe-throwing skills before the opening of Lumber Jaxe—the first axe throwing facility in the South. When you’re done, grab a beer or sangria and watch the axes fly.
(3) Take a Haunted Tour Through Charlotte
Friday-Saturday, 8-9:30 p.m. $15 (or $13 in advance). 214 N. Tryon St.
Carolina History and Haunts presents “Beyond the Grave”, a candlelit guided tour through Charlotte, where you learn about its history and its infamous departed residents who are known to still haunt these premises. You can get your tickets here. The tour meets by the statue in the Hearst Tower Plaza 15 minutes before each session. Remember to bring comfortable shoes and leave your fear of the dark behind!
(4) Enjoy the Dog Days of Summer Fest at Lucky Dog
Saturday, noon-7 p.m. $20+. Lucky Dog Bark & Brew, 2220 Thrift Road.
Join Lucky Dog Bark & Brew for their Dog Days of Summer Fest. Expect a puppy pageant, lots of adoptable pups, brews, bites and raffles. Proceeds benefit Long Trails to Happy Tails Dog Rescue. Doors will open at noon. The pageant will start at 3:30 p.m.
Think your pup has what it takes to take home the crown? Sign them up for the Doggie Days Summer Pageant from noon–3 p.m. You can sign up in advance for $20 or $25 day of.
First and second place will be awarded for: Sassiest Strut, Cutest/Coolest Costume, Sweetest Smile.
(5) Float Your Day Away with TheChive
Sunday, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Free. The Pump House, 575 Herrons Ferry Road, Rock Hill, SC.
Enjoy Sunday Funday floating down the Catawba River with TheChive. Be at the Pump House between 8:30–9:30 a.m.to be shuttled to the dam access. After that, you are on your own for a full four-to-five-hour float sesh. Don’t forget your flotation device and enough beer to last you the afternoon. This is TheChive’s second river float down the Catawba River.
If possible, carpool and park at the Pump House. Get there early because the lot tends to fill up.
