(1) Explore Gantt After Dark: Sounds of Summer

Summer is winding down but things are heating up on the rooftop of The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture with Sounds of Summer. Catch the sunset, relax to the music of the house band 5th and York and dance the night away with DJ Shogun and DJ NGenius. Explore the galleries and gift shop and enjoy light fare and drinks.

(2) Conquer Charlotte’s First Craft Spirits Showcase

Friday-Sunday, times vary. $20. Locations vary.

CLT is hosting its first ever celebration of craft spirits, which means you’ll have ample opps to sample the best spirits coming out of your own backyard. Choose from a brunch, cocktail hour and more. The QC Distillers Showcase will be hosted by The Behind The Bar Foundation in support of CORE and the Charlotte chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild.

Friday night: Meet and Greet Cocktail Hour, Stoke at the Charlotte City Center Marriott, 7-11 p.m.

Back Bar Takeover, Tilt on Trade, 9 p.m.-midnight

(3) Go Tropical at Unknown Brewing & Pop the Top’s Luau

Sip the end of summer with Pop the Top and Unknown Brewing. They’re throwing a Luau to release the “Let’s Get Tropical IPA” that’ll be filled with island vibes, grass skirts and giveaways. There’s a prize for the best island/costume attire.

(4) Celebrate the Solar Eclipse Weekend at the Schiele Museum

Saturday, 9 a.m-5 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. Free for members, general admission rates apply for nonmembers. Schiele Museum, 1500 E Garrison Blvd., Gastonia.

Explore the celestial event of the year at the Schiele Museum of Natural History & Planetarium. Watch a live video feed of the total solar eclipse, view the sun through a solar telescope and make your own pinhole projector. There will be extra showings of the eclipse-focused planetarium show, “Totality,” throughout the weekend.

(5) Free Your Soul with Soul Sunday at Snug Harbor

Join Snug Harbor every third Sunday of the month to ease and rejuvenate your soul. DJs Sir Chocolate Milk & Elon supply the funkiest groove thangs to help you celebrate your soul while that booty moves. While you’re there, check out Diggers Delight and their crates of vinyl records for sale or trade.
