Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen plans to move to a new location next year

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen will move to the new Bowers development in lower South End, White Point Partners announced Wednesday.

The 3,380 square-foot space at 4001 Yancey Road will allow the business to add a commercial kitchen and a second classroom, said husband-and-wife owners Alyssa and Andrew Wilen. They hope to open in the new space spring 2018.

“This new set up gives us the ability to provide office lunches to area business and eventually offer a selection of pick-up meals,” Alyssa Wilen said.

Added Andrew Wilen, “By adding a second culinary classroom to the mix, we’ll be able to continue to grow our kids programming.”

The popular cooking classes had previously been housed in Atherton Market.

“We are grateful for the loyal following and exposure during Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen time at Atherton, but our plans for expansion and vision for the future call for more space and require the company to move its entire operation from Atherton to Bowers,” Andrew Wilen said.

Bowers, located at the intersection of Yancey and Old Pineville Roads near The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery and Queen Park Social, is undergoing a major renovation by developer White Point Partners, which bought the site for $7.9 million earlier this year. Artisanal Brewing Ventures, maker of Victory and Southern Tier, plans to open a brewery in the same space, and SentryOne plans to open offices in the building.
