Here’s the only way you can get tickets to the Tim McGraw concert in Charlotte next week

Tim McGraw is coming to Charlotte to play a concert at BB&T Ballpark next week as a part of the 2016 Belk Bowl FanFest. But getting to see this FanFest concert will be a little bit more difficult than it has been in the past.

Past FanFest concerts were free, and huge crowds gathered outside of Bank of America Stadium to watch acts like Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Daughtry perform. All you had to do was show up.

This year, there’s only one way to get into the concert.

Want to see Tim McGraw at 2 p.m. Dec. 29? Here’s what you need to do.

(1) Buy a ticket to the Belk Bowl.

Yep, you have to have a ticket for the game to get into the concert. And you need to buy it before 11:59 p.m. Dec. 27. Tickets start at around $35.

Don’t care about either team? I get it. But this should be a good game. Virginia Tech (9-4) made it to the ACC Championship game and Arkansas (7-5) will represent the SEC and will likely bring a big fan base. And there should be a bunch of offense: VT averages 34.8 points per game and Arkansas scores 30.8 points per game.

Plus, this is one of the few big sporting events that actually decided to stay in N.C. despite House Bill 2.

(2) Get in line.

There are only 10,000 tickets available to the concert. More than 70,000 people can fit into Bank of America Stadium. Do the math and you’ll see that not everyone that has a ticket to the game will be able to go to the concert. So you need to get a concert voucher from the BB&T Ticket Office.

You have two chances to get a concert voucher, and a limited number of vouchers will be handed out each day.

Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2-7 p.m. Here’s where to get in line.

Thursday, Dec. 29, 8-11 a.m. Here’s where to get in line.

Your seat location will be assigned when you get the voucher, and the “best seats” go to the people who show up first each day.

(3) Go to the concert.

Gates will open at 11 a.m. Dec. 29 for the 2 p.m. show. Heads up: The bag policy will be the same as it is for the Belk Bowl, so don’t plan to bring any big purse or cooler or backpack.

(4) Didn’t get tickets? There’s one other way you can experience the concert.

The concert will be live streamed on a big screen at Romare Bearden Park and at the FanFest stage at Mint and Stonewall Streets.

It won’t be the same as seeing Tim McGraw in person, but it’s better than nothing.
