C5 Checklist: 5 things you should do this weekend in Charlotte | March 2-5
Who else is ready for the weekend? Yeah, that’s what we thought.
To help you start making plans, we put together this list of the 5 things you definitely should do this weekend.
(1) Hit the Streets for South End Gallery Crawl.
Friday, March 3, 6-9 p.m. South End. Free.
Once a month, it’s time to take to the streets and bounce between South End’s 14 art galleries for the South End Art Crawl. From about 6-9 p.m., bump from amazing spaces like Lark & Key Gallery, Elder Gallery and Charlotte Art League to peruse everything from jewelry to surreal paintings. Finish off your evening at a South End brewery.
(2) Get Jazzy at the Modern Art Museum.
Friday, March 3, 6 p.m. or 8:15 p.m. Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, 420 S Tryon St. $14 for the public and $8 for museum members.
Every first Friday of the month, the Ziad Jazz Quartet takes the stage at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. The modern artists and jazz artists of the time were finding inspiration in each other’s work and the influence is evident (think John Coltrane’s Blue Train and Pablo Picasso’s blue period). Catching the jazz performance, wandering the galleries and grabbing dinner or drinks Uptown makes for a perfect date night. It’s the perfect excuse to head to Halcyon for a snazzy cocktail!
There are often themed performances, so check the schedule to check for the evening’s theme. Snacks are served and a cash bar is available.
Tickets to each concert are sold separately. First show 6 to 7:30 p.m., second show 8:15 to 9:45 p.m. Tickets are $14 for the public and $8 for museum members.
(3) Sip up at the 4th Annual Charlotte Craft Cocktail Crawl.
Friday, March 3, 7 p.m. Rooftop 210, 210 East Trade St. $10+
Romp through Uptown Charlotte as you enjoy creative craft cocktails at the 4th Annual Charlotte Craft Cocktail Crawl. Sip your way through Rooftop 210, Blackfinn, Vida, Strike City, Bubble, Suite, Whisky River, Howl at the Moon, Mortimors, and Wild Wing Cafe. Check in at Rooftop 210 from 5-10 p.m. General admission tickets include two drink tickets and a commemorative cup, and VIP tickets include an hour early admission and a craft cocktail seminar.
(4) Indulge in Sunday Funday Brunch at Red Clay Ciderworks.
Sunday, March 5, noon-2 p.m. Red Clay Ciderworks, 245 Clanton Road.
Head to Red Clay Ciderworks for a brunch to remember! Sunday Funday consists of Cidermosas, Cider Bellinis, and a stacked menu of PepperBox Doughnuts and food truck fare.
(5) Celebrate the Best of Charlotte at the C5 Awards Party.
Thursday, March 2, 6-8 p.m. Flight, 314 N College St. $10
