4 gadgets local business people can’t live without
Whether the work space is a local coffee shop, terminal B of the airport, a traditional office space or even the kitchen table, the right tech gadgets help entrepreneurs manage their business (and at times their personal life) from wherever they are.
According to INC.com, there are 27 million entrepreneurs in the U.S. So, I began to wonder, what do business owners consider to be their secret weapons for success when it comes to technology?
Well, I asked a few Charlotte business owners to share their can’t-live-without gadgets, the devices that allow them to stay on top of customer needs and their own lives.
Here’s what they said:
Amazon Echo
“As of this past Christmas, the Amazon Echo is my technology obsession. I use it for impromptu dance parties with my daughter, Sydney, voice ordering from Amazon Prime and setting timers — my daughter’s latest negotiation tactic. I believe technology should make life easier. That was our inspiration with uBack, a local mobile fintech company that is transforming the way people give back. And it’s now what I look for in the technology I use in my daily life.”
– Melissa Bodford, Co-founder and chairman of uBack
Samsung Galaxy 6
“One of my favorite gadgets is my Samsung Galaxy 6. Ever since I got the phone, my professional and personal life has elevated — from the nice design of the phone, to the amazing photographs taken, to the ease of transferring information. I can literally draft work documents, create social media designs, as well as get updates on traffic and directions for traveling to a meeting, all from this one phone. It is a win-win for my lifestyle.”

Canva.com
“Do websites count? If so, my favorite tech product is actually Canva.com (a design program). If not, I would go with my iPhone and the Boomerang App for Gmail, which allows me to schedule email messages so I don’t look like the crazy night owl that I am!”
– Rachel Sheerin, Owner of She Sells, LLC.
iMac computer
“The majority of the time that I have been a photographer I have used film as my medium. The indispensable component to that process was my lab which provided the post processing (development) of my film to produce the negatives which were then printed to reveal my images. Today, my lab is my can’t-do-without iMac 5k computer. I was a PC guy for a number of years, but for my workflow, this system, filled to the brim with memory, a fast CPU and graphics card is a must in allowing me to be as efficient and accurate as possible during the hours that I spend in my post processing workflow.”
