Podcast: Insight into Black Lives Matter

Our programming for the CharlotteFive Podcast is typically full of local happenings and events around Charlotte that our listeners can use to plan their schedule with family and friends.

However, it is also a platform to have responsible conversations about issues and topics that affect the city we live in.

The Black Lives Matter movement has been an active force in many communities throughout the nation. Charlotte is no exception to this, so we invited our guest to speak about the movement at a local level.

Ashley Williams is a graduate student at UNC-Charlotte and a member of Black Lives Matter. Ashley is an active Community Organizer and recently held a panel at UNC-Charlotte about the Black Lives Matter movement.

While Ashley is able to offer insight into Black Lives Matter, Ashley is not representative of the entire movement or an entire race. Ashley was invited on the show so we could have a conversation that this city needs.

Ashley’s interview with Sarah Crosland and Corey Inscoe is revealing and honest. I encourage you to listen in, and continue a conversation with friends and family.

The CharlotteFive Podcast — presented by The Charlotte Observer and powered by OrthoCarolina — is a weekly podcast that aims to get you CharlotteSmart, fast with fun, interesting and useful news about the city. It’s hosted by Corey Inscoe and Sarah Crosland.

You may have noticed we have a new name, but not much else has changed. If you’re already subscribed to the podcast, you’ll still get it each week. If you want to subscribe, you can find us on Soundcloud, iTunes and Stitcher.

You can follow us on Twitter @Charlotte_Five, on Instagram @cltfive, on Facebook and you can shoot us an email to charlottefive@charlottefive.com.
