(1) Explore “It wasn’t important until it was”

Photographer Amy Herman’s solo exhibition at CPCC’s Ross Gallery features photographs of projections of family photos during the construction of Herman’s home. Notice: The sense that technology creates a false understanding of interaction among the concepts of time, reality and memory. The exhibition runs through Oct. 9.

(2) Try out the Charlotte Food Trucks app

The app was launched this summer by Byron Brewer and Brandon Davis, and is available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store. It features a listing of more than 70 food trucks based on type and sortable location, special offers, food truck events and more.

(3) Get to work on a Yard Art Day project

It’s pretty simple. Create a work of art for your front yard (or some part of your property) and display it within sight of the street for 24 hours, from midnight to midnight on Labor Day, Sept. 5. It can be anything from photography, to a painting, to performance art. You choose. Get more on the rules and the meaning behind the day here.

(4) Check out wedding gowns, formal dresses and accessories at Mecklenburg Bridal Gallery.

This place in Pineville is shutting down its operation at the end of the year and is offering huge savings. Fun fact: Mecklenburg Bridal Gallery has the largest retail collection of mother-of-the-bride dresses in the Southeast.

(5) See a show at Amos’ Southend

Remember how Corey thinks everything cool in Charlotte is dying? Here’s your chance to take in some version of that cool-ness before Amos’ closes in 2017. This week’s featured show: “Extreme Midget Wrestling” Aug. 25.

Other option: Take in a show at the Double Door Inn, which was established in 1973.
