See inside the massive new Lenny Boy Brewing location, which opens Sept. 10
Lenny Boy Brewing will open its massive new space on South Tryon Street to the public Sept. 10 with a grand opening party that will include food trucks, live music, yoga, games and giveaways.
I had a chance to see the new space Thursday night at a “friends and media” preview event.
Lenny Boy, led by owner and head brewer Townes Mozer, opened as a kombucha brewery in 2011 and expanded to beer in 2014.
The brewery’s older space is tiny — a 600 square-foot tap room and 5,000 square feet of warehouse space. The new location features 2,300 square-foot taproom and 31,000 square feet of warehouse space, which looks mostly empty right now — plenty of room to grow.
Despite being so much larger than the old space, the new taproom still feels cozy, with exposed beams on the ceiling, wagon wheel chandeliers hanging down and beautiful wood tables filling the middle of the room.
Two corners of the room feature little living room areas, with couches and comfy chairs. And there are four TVs scattered around the taproom. The Panthers game was on Thursday night.
More space means more beer, kombucha and wild ales. At the preview night, the brewery had 21 different beers, wild ales and kombuchas available, ranging from Lost Rose kombucha to No Show Amber beer to Burn Down for What wild ale, a brown ale that’s been soured and barrel aged.
You’ll find beer here that you won’t find anywhere else in Charlotte.
The brewery also has wine and sake, if you don’t like beer or kombucha. Here’s a look at the menu from Thursday night.
And the patio area will be nice — when it’s not pouring rain like it was Thursday night.
The new location is located at 3000 S. Tryon Street. The grand opening party is Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Learn even more about the new space in this “first look” story that Katie Toussaint wrote in June.
And learn more about head brewer and owner Townes Mozer in this feature from February.
