Where to find Shaq Thompson’s Shaq Staq Signature Sub

Shaq Thompson is only going into his second season as a Carolina Panther. In that short time, he has made quite a name for himself on the field. Now he’s making a name for himself off the field.

Thompson, the Panthers’ first-round pick last season, has warmed to the Queen City quickly.

“Charlotte is great,” he said. “Very relaxed. Very chill, but you still get that Southern hospitality where everyone says ‘hi’ and makes sure you have a smile on your face.”

Thompson has teamed with Harris Teeter to create the Shaq Staq Signature Sub. He signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans Tuesday.

The signature sub is a regular-sized submarine sandwich stuffed with BBQ chicken and bacon, and yellow american cheese, and topped with BBQ and chipotle sauce on a wheat sub roll. And yeah, it’s delicious! 

The sandwich can be found at Harris Teeter’s made-to-order sandwich counter at stores area-wide. The sub will run you $3.99 with your VIC card. Also, if you make it a lunch pack, get the sandwich, an HT lemonade or tea, and a cookie for $4.99.

“I might eat six or seven right now,” Thompson said at the fan event. 

The metaphor Thompson used to explain his eating habits is, “What kind of fuel do you want to put in your Ferrari?”

He said, “As professional athletes, we should know what it takes to keep us going, energy wise.”

As for Sunday’s game against the Vikings, coming to town without their No. 1 offensive threat Adrian Peterson, Thompson said the game plan doesn’t change.

“We’re not gonna take this team lightly,” he said. 

You could say the same for tackling this new sandwich.
