Is The Dunhill Hotel haunted? 3 Charlotte ghost stories you need to hear
A suicidal manager at the Manor Theater. A haunted room at the Dunhill Hotel. Stolen cadavers at Founders Hall.
With the spookiest of holidays fast approaching, we decided to share some of our favorite ghost stories on this Halloween edition of the CharlotteFive Podcast.
Each of us — me, co-host Sarah Crosland and producer Richard Brooke — picked our favorite Charlotte ghost story and told them in our best flashlight-under-the-chin voices.
First, Richard tells the story of Founders Hall, which used to be a medical school. The school needed cadavers, leading people to steal bodies from graveyards to sell to the school — but they shouldn’t have disturbed one girl’s body.
Then Sarah tells the story of a mysterious death in an elevator shaft at the Dunhill Hotel, and the room that people say is still haunted.
And I close it out with the story of the two ghosts that haunt the Manor Theater on Providence Road, one former manager who committed suicide in the ’40s and a woman named Rose who haunts the woman’s bathroom.
