#C5Checklist: 5 things you should do this week – Nov. 7-Nov.11

First things first — make sure you adjusted all of your clocks (car included) to accommodate Sunday’s end to Daylight Saving Time. Then:

(1) Go to a random social event and meet people.

Dine & Draw CLT at Two Scoops Creamery is one option, on Nov. 9 from 6-7:30 p.m. Draw your perspective of an ice cream cone, and note that Two Scoops will create a collage from the group’s drawings. Bring: Drawing supplies. Paper will be on hand. Order: A double-scoop cone. Two Scoops Creamery, 913 Central Ave.

Hear from Nico Amortegui, Mary Ellen Player and Tony Santoro about their entrepreneurial/career f*ck ups at F*up Night on Nov. 9 at Advent Coworking. This is the one-year celebration of Advent’s existence. There will be free beer courtesy of LMK Consulting and food for purchase from Terra Flora – Fine Plant Foods. 7:30-10 p.m. Advent Coworking, 933 Louise Ave.

(2) Vote.

Obviously, if you haven’t already. Early voting closed Nov. 5, but Nov. 8 is Election Day. Polls are open 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Tuesday and you should be ready to vote for president, as well as NC governor, senators, the county’s first member of Congress who represents only residents in the county, county commissioners and more. Here’s what you need to know.

Also, don’t forget about WFAE’s Election Night Results Watching Party at Free Range Brewing. First, register. Then, You can listen to coverage from WFAE’s News Room and NPR and watch PBS on TV. And maybe order a round of beers and a snack from A Bao Time food truck. 7-11 p.m. Free Range Brewing, 2320 North Davidson St.

(3) Add a pop of color via art to your day.

Visit Gallery C3 and check out their exhibition of diverse artists, “Intersection.” The exhibition is on display Nov. 4-23 and Gallery C3 is holding open gallery hours Tuesday-Friday during that time frame from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. 2525 Distribution St.

Top off the week with a stop at McColl Center for Art + Innovation for this week’s Opening Reception / Artist + Curator Talk. From 6-9 p.m. on Nov. 11, hear from Charlotte-based Alumnus Artist Ivan Toth Depeña, who is exploring memory through his exhibition “REMEMBER.” Get in for free AND enjoy free beer on tap from Blue Blaze Brewing and NoDa Brewing, and a cash wine/bottled beer bar. McColl Center, 721 N. Tryon St.

(4) Start Christmas early.

It’s way too soon, but why fight the holiday cheer? The Southern Christmas Show starts Nov. 10 and continues through Nov. 20. Check out a village of shops to browse, holiday gift and decor options, a holiday entertainment stage, Christmas Tree Lane, holiday morsels and more. The Park Expo and Conference Center, 800 Briar Creek Road.

I’ve also spotted Christmas-colored M&M’s at Harris Teeter and light displays at Lowe’s, if that tickles your festive fancy.

(5) Indulge in CLT Pizza Week.

CLT Pizza Week starts Nov. 7 and lasts through Nov. 13. The point: Eat specialty pizza slices, personal pizzas and/or flatbreads at lower prices at more than 20 Charlotte restaurants, including Pure Pizza on Central Avenue, Benny Pennello’s, The Pizza Peel, 8.2.0 Bar/Restaurant and FUEL Pizza. Get details here.

Happy pizza week, all.
